  • I.U.P.A. recognizes the importance of lobbying both at the national and state levels. I.U.P.A. has professional lobbyists who consult with I.U.P.A., but I.U.P.A.'s Vice-President directs this effort.
  • The Vice-President uses his influence to achieve the passage of legislation beneficial to I.U.P.A. members. Recognizing the importance of lobbying and legislation, I.U.P.A.'s Vice-President and staff are personally involved in helping to ensure the passage of pro-law enforcement legislation.

  • In state, the Florida P.B.A. says that it, "maintains a professional staff of lobbyists to aid in obtaining legislation...." The F.O.P., based on its website, appears to focus on lobbying at the national level.

      What IUPA-FL delivers

  • I.U.P.A. offers you life insurance for your family. But I.U.P.A. is not only concerned about making sure your family is alright in the event of a tragic death.
  • I.U.P.A. is also concerned about you and your family while you are living. I.U.P.A. provides for a dental and vision program, a credit card program, an auto insurance program, a mortgage program and a loan program.

  •   What the PBA offers

  • The Florida PBA is happy to keep paying you after you have died. "This plan assures the continuation of your annual base salary for 12 months in the event you lose your life as the result of accident, on or off-duty, or under certain circumstances, as a result of heart or other circulatory circumstances." Meanwhile, the Grand Lodge of the F.O.P. advertises that "many state lodges provide life, accidental death, line of duty, vision care and other benefits at no cost." Many lodges says the F.O.P. but not all lodges apparently.

  • I.U.P.A. provides its Florida members with their own IUPA-FL Website. Of course, members also have access to the I.U.P.A. International Website and many helpful links to other I.U.P.A. Locals' Websites.
  • I.U.P.A. not only publishes the Police Union News but also provides regular news updates to the I.U.P.A.-FL website.






  •   What the PBA offers

  • Florida P.B.A. claims a monthly newsletter. The F.O.P. does not advertise any member publications.
